Virgil Charles Massner

Virgil C. Massner, age 94 of Mediapolis, died Monday September 3, 2018 at Prairie Ridge Care Center.

The son of Adolph and Rose (Reber) Massner, he was born January 15, 1924 at Hancock, Minnesota. On September 7, 1958 he married Barbara Wagenbach at the Oakville Apostolic Christian Church.

He was a 1942 graduate of Huron High School. He was a member of the Mediapolis Apostolic Christian Church. He was a lifelong farmer.

After retirement he enjoyed driving cars for the local auction and hauling fertilizer. His favorite pastime was hunting and fishing, enjoying many fishing trips to Canada. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Survivors include: his wife Barbara of Mediapolis; one daughter Kathryn (Rob) Schmidgall of Hancock, MN; three sons, Todd (Kim) Massner of Morris, MN.; Troy (Joni) Massner of Wapello; Taylor Massner of Mediapolis; 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; four brothers, Harold, Lloyd, Allen and Dale; one sister Dorothy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and one sister.

The funeral service will be Saturday September 8, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Mediapolis Apostolic Christian Church, with ministers of the church officiating. Interment will follow at the Apostolic Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday September 7, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Mediapolis Ambulance and the Apostolic Church.
