Esther Ella Gerth, age 88 of Wapello, died Monday morning, March 13, 1995 at the Wapello Nursing & Care Center. She was born October 28,1906 at Hawarden, Iowa, the daughter of Rev. Jesse and Anna Beery Huddle.

She married Earl R. Meyerholz on October 11, 1925 at Wapello. He died December 19, 1978. She married Clifford Gerth at Wapello on August 12, 1985.

Esther was a graduate of Wapello High School in 1925. She was a member of first Presbyterian Church and the Delta Alpha Guild of Wapello, Derexa Rebekah Lodge #129 of Wapello, and its Past Noble Grands, the Order of the Eastern Star#257 of Wapello, the Louisa County Historical Society, and the Pine Grove Club.

Survivors include her husband Clifford; two daughters, Myrtle Laughlin of Wapello and Mary Jean Larsen of Buckley, Washington; a son, Dr. George Meyerholz of Estero, Florida; a step-duaghter, Karen Thornburg of New London; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; a brother Jesse Huddle of Galesburg, Illinois; and four sisters, Lois Kennedy of La Palma, California, Vivian Le Clair of Foxboro, Massachusetts, Ruth McCulley of Torrence, California, and Anna Belle Herrick of Ft. Collins, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Earl; and two brothers.
