DIES IN HOSPITAL AFTER OPERATION

REMAINS OF WOMAN BROUGHT HOME FOR BURIAL

Mrs. T. E. Johnson Succumbs At Chicago Institution After Undergoing Critical Operation.

Grandview, Ia. Aug., 17, 1909 - Accompanied by the bereaved husband the remains of Mrs. T. E. Johnson of this city, arrived today from Chicago, where yesterday morning at the Washington hospital, her death occurred.

Mrs. Johnson, who is the wife of a prominent merchant of this city and the daughter of J. T. Walker, was taken to Chicago, last Thursday evening and placed in the hospital where she underwent a critical operation the result of which was necessarily doubtful. The shock of the operation proved fatal and yesterday morning at 10 o'clock she passed away.

No arrangements have as yet been made for the funeral, word from relatives from abroad being awaited before the final arrangements are completed.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband, her father, J.T. Walker, her step-mother, Mrs. Walker, a sister, Mrs. Knox Chambers of Fort Morgan, Colo., a brother William Walker of Grandview and a step sister Miss May Jones of Grandview. She was an active member of the Congregational church and of the Ladies Missionary Society.
