Beverly Marshall
Beverly J. Marshall, 71, of DeWitt (Iowa), died Saturday afternoon, September 4, 2004.
Born March 4, 1933, in rural Des Moines County near Morning Sun (Iowa) , she was the daughter of Wallace and Ruth Walker Broeker. Her mother died when she was 4 and she was raised by an aunt and uncle, Theodore and Myrtle Dotson, until her father remarried. She married Elwood “Odie” Marshall on March 6, 1954, in Morning Sun (Iowa).
Mrs. Marshall was a graduate of Morning Sun High School and received a nursing degree from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Burlington (Iowa). She worked as a registered nurse in Burlington, Iowa City (Iowa) and Geneseo, Illinois. She lived in DeWitt for the past 31 years, where she and her husband owned and operated Marshall’s Greenhouse and Bev and Odie’s Veggies at River City Farmer’s Market in Davenport (Iowa).
She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Morning Sun (Iowa), Clinton County Farm Bureau, and the River City Farmer’s Market Association.
She enjoyed mushrooming, fishing, Bingo, and socializing.
Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Karen Hutchison of Cambridge, Illinois; one son, Jim Marshall of DeWitt (Iowa); on sister, Shirley Smith of Wapello (Iowa); six grandchildren; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother, Ruth Wheeler
Broeker, and an aunt and uncle.Visitation was Wednesday evening at Schultz Funeral Home in DeWitt (Iowa).
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Christine Diezen officiating.
