Neil Eugene Grim, 90 of Washington Iowa died Saturday June 29, 2013 in Halcyon House of Washington Iowa of a brief illness.

Mr. Grim was born on November 8th 1922 in Morning Sun Iowa. He was the son of James Russell and Dorothy (Thomas) Grim. He married Melba Lorraine Hall on April 17th 1943 in Cairo, Iowa. He graduated from Wapello High School in 1940. Neil was a lifetime farmer in the Louisa County area. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman having a sincere love of wildlife conservation. Neil Grim experienced Big Game hunting in the Pacific Northwest, Canada, Alaska and Africa. Neil will always be remembered for his speaking engagements at schools and various service organizations, where he shared these experiences with a slide presentation. Neil and his wife welcomed hundreds of visitors to their home in Louisa Center to view his numerous wild game trophies. Through the years, he and his wife enjoyed traveling to participate in The National Corn Husking Competition throughout the Midwest. He was a member of The Izaak Walton League and The NRA. Neil also cherished his time with family and friends playing Cribbage and Pitch.

Surviving are his wife, Melba of Washington, two sons Keith Grim and wife Patty of Oakville Iowa, Terry Neil Grim and wife Terry Kay of Wapello, and four daughters, Vickie Earnest and friend Ralph Honson of Bettendorf, Rita Johnson and husband Gary of Iowa City, Carla Belzer and husband Bill of Mt. Pleasant, and Debbie Grim of San Leandro, California, twelve grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and one sister Wanda Jean Pogemiller, and several of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Delbert, one grandson, and one great grandson, and one Son-in-law Robert Earnest.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday July 2, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello. Interment will follow in the Wapello Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 1-2:00 p.m. Tuesday with the family present.
Memorials have been established for the Louisa County Historical Society and the Washington County Conservation Center (Marr Park)
