Marilyn Jean Bozman

Marilyn Jean Bozman, 75, of Burlington, died at 10:25 a.m. Friday, November 11, 2011, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born February 24, 1936, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Milford and Margaret Cummings Todd. On May 24, 1957, she married Albert Richard Bozman in Rockford, Il. They later divorced.

Marilyn was an educator for 43 years. She retired in June of 1998.

She was a 1953 graduate of Yarmouth High School and d1955 graduate of Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Drake University in 1961 and her Master’s degree from University of Iowa in 1976.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was involved in numerous clubs and organizations. She was an avid college basketball fan. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, reading, playing cards, and board games. She loved attending her grandchildren’s events, giving them books and spending time with family at Christmas.

Survivors include two sons, Jeff (Susan) Bozman of LeClaire, IA and Brian (Renee) Bozman of Des Moines; one daughter, Sandy (Charles) Kerr of Wapello; nine grandchildren, Alex Bozman, Zach Bozman, Ben Bozman, Steven (Samantha) Kerr, Brad Kerr, Jacob Kerr, Kyle Bozman, Seth Bozman, and Madeline Bozman; three brothers, Ralph Todd of Burlington, Don Todd of Boulder, CO, and Harold “Charlie” Todd of Morning Sun; three sisters, Dorothy Baker of Sperry, Mary Beth Johnson of Madison, WI, and Shirley Nott of North Liberty; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Rochelle Bozman and one brother, Bruce Todd.

Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, November 18, 2011 at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home.

The funeral service for Marilyn will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2011, at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home with Chaplain Randy Gearhart officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Morning Sun.

Memorials have been established for the Great River Hospice House and the SCC Foundation.
