Margie Ann Hill

Margie Ann Hill, 71, of Oakville / Morning Sun, died Sunday, October 9, 2011, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born February 1`, 1940, in Cherokee, Iowa, she was the daughter of Doyle and Margie Whitmore Bales. She was the 1958 Valedictorian of Wapello High School. She graduated from Keokuk Nursing School and worked as a registered nurse in both Iowa and California. She also worked at the Iowa ammunition Plant.

She married Dwight Stineman in 1958, they divorced later. She married Robert Hill in 1979, they moved to California and lived there together until his death in 2001. In 2002 Mrs. Hill returned to Iowa. She later found companionship in Sam Walker and they remained together until her passing.

Mrs. Hill was a member of several churches, including Solid Rock Baptist, church of the Nazarene, and St. Paul’s Lutheran. She enjoyed vacationing in Arizona and Canada, crocheting, puzzles, playing cards, fishing, collecting bells, reading novels and her Bible, and most importantly spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her children, Sheldon Stineman of Oakville, Mark and Betsy Stineman of Oakville, Darin Stineman of Wichita, Kansas, two step-daughters, Bobbie Nelson and Kimmie Ineichen, both of the Quad Cities, two sisters, Richard and Sheila Smith Goeben of Wapello and Vicky Majerus of Bakersfield, California, one brother, Von Smith of Wapello, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and companion Sam Walker of Morning Sun.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, husband, a brother, a grandson, and two step-sons.

Mrs. Hill was cremated and a memorial service was held on Sunday, October 23, 2011, at the Solid Rock Baptist Church in Wapello.

A memorial fund has been established in Mrs. Hill’s memory with the MDA Association for ALS Research in honor of her courageous and gracious battle with ALS. Donations can be made at the Solid Rock Baptist Church in Wapello.
