Jerry Dean Cocklin, 67, of Grandview, died on Sunday, February 17, 2013, at his home.

Jerry was born on November 5, 1945, the son of Dean and Nadine (Buster) Cocklin. He married Madeline Pierce. Then later married Lindel Coleman in 1979.

He had worked for Rath Packing, Monsanto, owned a car-crushing business, owned and operated J&L Tire Service in Columbus Jct. Jerry built and operated a campground business on his farm south of Grandview before retiring.

He was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1964-1968. Jerry enjoyed old cars, motorcycles, fishing and hunting, and loved his two dogs.

Jerry will be deeply missed by one son Douglas Cocklin and wife Rene of Texas City, TX; one stepson Erin Rohelier of Fort Worth, TX; two stepdaughters Dawn Lincoln of Wapello and Stacy Tallman of Snohomish, WA; a great nephew and special friend Shane Adye of Athens, Ill; and 13 grandchildren; three sisters, Diane Adye of Middletown, Ill, Mary (John) Tank of Davenport, and Sherry (Rick) Parkhurst of Wapello, IA.
