KING, MOFFETT

Mrs. Eliza King Moffett, whose death has been previously announced was born in Butler county, Ohio, May 7, 1833, and passed away at her home in this city Thursday morning after a lingering illness. The first nine years of her life were spent in Butler county, and when deceased was four years of age; her mother died. In the year 1842 she, with her father moved to Indiana where she remained until 1857 when she came to Iowa, where she taught school a year, and then returned to Ohio where in 1858 she was married to Dr. W. H. Moffett. To this union were born five children, two sons and three daughters, all of whom are dead but two daughters, Mrs. Mary C. Bishop, of Muscatine, and Mrs. Mattie J. Hunsticker, of this city. For many years Mrs. Moffett has been a member of the M.E. church and was very faithful, attending every service possible until her health failed and she was compelled to remain at home. She will be mourned by a host of friends for besides being a loving and devoted mother she was a kind companion and friend. The funeral took place Friday morning from the M.E. church conducted by Rev. M. E. Reusch. Interment in the Grandview cemetery.
