Edward Neal Toland, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank P. Toland, of Letts, was born in Muscatine county, Ia., near Letts August 5, 1877, and died September 7, 1911, at Ukiah, Cal., aged 34 years, 1 month and 2 days. The body arrived in Letts, Thursday morning and was taken to the home of his grief stricken parents. Friday afternoon the funeral was held at the M.E church, conducted by Rev. T. F. Barker. Interment was made in the Letts cemetery.

Mr. Toland is survived by a wife, his parents, three brothers and three sisters. They are Mrs. Essie Cox of Kellerton, Ia.; Mrs. Addie Hartman, and Miss Velma; Rolla, Joe and Dewey. Mr. Toland was a fine cornetist and employed his time mostly in playing in orchestras. In former years, he was a prominent member of the Letts brass band.

His parents and relatives have the sympathy of the community.
