SCHROCK, John L.

John Lanz Schrock, 88, of Mediapolis died Friday, April 6, 2007 at the Morning Sun Care Center, following a lengthy hospitalization. The son of Noah and Hattie Lanz Schrock, he was born December 7, 1918, in Oakville. On February 23, 1947, he married Ruth Roberta Marti at Lamar, Missouri.

He was a graduate of Huron High School and served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a lifelong farmer and stockman.

He was a member of the Oakville Apostolic Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife of Mediapolis; three daughters, Charlen and Wayne Banwart of Champaign, Illinois; Cathy and Jack Larson of Oakville; Evelyn and Gary Endress, Kewanee, Illinois; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert and Edward Schrock of Mediapolis and James Schrock of Aurora, Colorado; six sisters, Ada Banwart of Mediapolis, Lois Wiegand of West Burlington, Dorothy Schrock of San Francisco, California, Alma Langland of Ottumwa, Eleanor Knobloch of Tremont, Illinois and Janet Beik of Burlington.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Anna.

The funeral service was at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Oakville Apostolic Christian Church, with ministers of the church officiating. Interment followed in the Apostolic Church Cemetery, rural Oakville.

Visitation was Monday at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis.

In lieu of flowers, memorials were established for the benefit of the Mediapolis Public Library and Camp Courageous.
