John Jacobs, an old resident of Letts, died Monday morning at 9 o'clock from poison. He took paris green last Thrusday night with suicidal intent. He doubtless thought it would result in immediate death, but he lingered until Monday moring in great agony. The deceased was born in Montgomery county, Ohio, and lived in Letts about 50 years. He separated from his wife some years ago. Mr. Jacobs was 72 years and 9 months old at his death. The surviving members of the family are his wife, Mary Hamm, of Illinois, Emily House, of Canton, Mo., J.H. Jacobs, Mrs. Thos. Curtis, Mrs. A. Johnston and Mrs. Barnes, of Letts. The funeral services were held at the home of T.S. Curtis Tuesday at 2 o'clock p.m., conducted by Rev. Childress. The remains were laid to rest in the Letts cemetery.
