Death of R.C. Vibber

Word was received here first of the week of the death of R.C. Vibber, a highly respected citizen of Grandview at the home of his son Harry in Seattle, Washington, where he went sometime since to visit. He was just preparing to start home, intending to stop with his daughter, Mrs. George Buster, now residing at St. Anthony, Idaho, when death overtook him. The supposed immediate cause was heert disease, though for years Mr. Vibber has been afflicted with a stomach disorder which possibly caused the complication resulting in his sudden death.

Mr. Vibber was born May 12th, 1834, in Wyandotte county, Ohio, the son of Russell and Mary (Zabriskie) Vibber. His boyhood was spent on his father's farm in Ohio where he attended the common schools. He came to Louisa county in 1857, locating on a small farm near Grandview, where he resided until his removal to Grandview in 1881, where he engaged in the general merchandise business, quiet successfully, until his retirement a few years ago.

He was married Nov. 17th, 1853, to Miss Catharine Stineman, of Grandview, to whom six children were born. His wife died a few years ago, but he continued to reside in Granview, a daughter making a home for his declining years and ministering to his comfort with kindly hands.

Mr. Vibber was a good man, with many friends and few enemies-a man of abounding good cheer, friendly, given to hospitality, a neighborly, helpful, happy dispositioned man, whose greetings were a pleasure to his friends. He was hopeful, optimistic, even in the midst of much physical suffering, and so doubtless passed into the land of the great silence.
