Dorothy Irene Drinkall, 84, of Columbus Junction, died Sunday, August 5, 2012, at Colonial Manor in Columbus Junction. Funeral services will be Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. Burial will be in the Columbus City Cemetery. After the committal services, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Allen Wright Hanft American Legion Post 100 in Columbus Junction. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services from 4:00 -7:00 P.M. A memorial has been established at the funeral home in memory of Dorothy. Online condolences may be left to the Drinkall family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

Dorothy Irene McCullough was born on October 28, 1927, in Muscatine, the daughter of Harold A. and Shirley I. (Hesseltine) McCullough. On July 7, 1949, Dorothy was united in marriage to Harold Drinkall in Conesville. Dorothy was a member of the United Presbyterian Church and the Louisa County Retired Teachers Association. She was a teacher for 42 years, spending 41 of them teaching the 1st and 3rd grades in Columbus Junction. She volunteered at Colonial Manor for many years. She won a Governor’s Award for her volunteer work at Columbus Schools. She was very active in the church, acting as Choir director, leading Bible School and playing the organ or piano for over 40 years. She loved singing, playing the piano and organ and anything to do with music. She enjoyed puzzles, word searches, and word jumbles. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye basketball fan.

Dorothy will be dearly missed by her daughters, Elizabeth Chapin and her husband, John and Karen Drinkall, both of Muscatine; two grandchildren, Geoff Chapin and Adam Chapin and his wife, Jennifer both of Muscatine; and two great-grandchildren; Elijah and Keira.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harold in 2008; and her brother, Gaylord McCullough.
