LIFETIME COUNTY RESIDENT DIES

Mrs. Bertha Jane Nelson, 81, lifetime resident of Louisa county, died Monday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Daisy McKeever. Mrs. Nelson had suffered a stroke on Friday, December 21, while she was staying at the home of her son, Omer Nelson. She was brought to Morning Sun by ambulance a day before her death.

The daughter of James and Margaret Ann Spiker Hull, Mrs. Nelson was born near Port Louisa on July 19, 1870. On December 31, 1890 she was married to August Nelson who died in March 1931.

She is survived by four sons and two daughters; Omer, Winfield; Oliver, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Harry, Knoxville, Iowa; Wilmer, Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. Vera Jackson, Winfield; and Mrs. Daisy McKeever, Morning Sun. Other survivors are a brother, Jesse Hull, Hammond, Indiana, 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are being held this (Thursday) afternoon at the Cairo Evangelical United Brethren church with the Rev. Lynn King officiating. A brief service is to be held at 12:45 in the Pierce funeral home. Burial will be in the Cairo cemetery.
