Marjorie Jean Griffin, 90, of Morning Sun died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born May 23, 1921, in Newport, she was the daughter of Thomas and Cora May Congrove Baird. On Oct. 29, 1939, she married Max H. Griffin in Morning Sun. He died Dec. 2, 1989.

Mrs. Griffin worked at Community Bank in Columbus Junction, where she retired as assistant vice president in 1987. She was a 1938 graduate of Morning Sun High School. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Morning Sun.

Survivors include one son, Tom Griffin of Ames; two grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; 10 nieces and 11 nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, nine sisters and four brothers.

The memorial service for Mrs. Griffin will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun with the Rev. Tom Zeleny officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Morning Sun.

Memorials have been established for Morning Sun Community Ambulance Service and Mellinger Memorial Library in Morning Sun.
