SAMUEL BAIRD DIES AT HOME HERE
WIDELY KNOWN FARMER PASSES AWAY AFTER LONG ILLNESS.

Samuel Baird, widely known farmer and lifelong resident of the Morning Sun community, died at his home here at 4 am Tuesday. Mr. Baird, who was past 80 years of age at the time of his death, had been in failing health for several years.

He was born on a farm near Morning Sun on August 17, 1865, the son of Robert and Mary *Baird. On March 17, 1925 he was married to Serilda Bowers. Mr. Baird is survived by his wife and four daughters, Crystal, Martha, Mary Emma, and Dorothy, all at home. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Emma Boggy of San Diego, California, and Mrs. Charlotte Parks of Los Angeles, California.

Samuel Baird was a highly successful farmer and stock feeder. In later years most of his life was devoted to the management of several farms in this vicinity, and in addition he served for a number of years as a director of the Iowa State Bank of this place.

Funeral services will be held at the Baird home at 2 o'clock Thursday Afternoon and burial will be at Elmwood cemetery.
