Harold A. Haas

SOUTH HARWICH, Mass. — Harold Andrew Haas, 80, died Wednesday, June 27, 2001, in Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston.

He was born in Dubuque, Iowa, and had resided in South Harwich since 1973.

He was a graduate of Loras Academy and attended Loras College.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II serving as an aviation radioman second class. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with three silver stars, the American Theater of War and Asiatic-Pacific campaign ribbons, and the Third Fleet Commendation ribbon.

Mr. Haas was a construction supervisor at Leominster Engineering for many years.

He was a communicant of Holy Redeemer Church, Chatham, Mass.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Julian) Haas; three sons, Thomas J. Haas of Leominster, Mass., Michael R. Haas of South Harwich and Stephen Haas of Brewster, Mass.; three daughters, Janice Ramaska of Derry, Cassandra Rodier of Exeter and Sharon Belanger of Millbridge, Maine; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, William Haas of Davenport, Iowa, and Maurice Haas of Casper, Calif.; and one sister, Rita Ray of Columbus Junction, Iowa.

He was predeceased by one son, James C. Haas.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday in Holy Redeemer Church, Chatham. Burial was in Island Pond Cemetery, Harwich, Mass.

Memorial donations may be made to the Levine Cardiac Unit Fund, Tower 12, Brigham and Women's Hospital, c/o MaryLou Moore, 75 Francis St., Boston, MA 02115.
