F. Ray Westfall

F. Ray Westfall died January 29, 1990 at Mercy Hospital, Laredo, Texas, following a lengthy illness. Memorial services were held Thursday, February 1 at the Methodist Church, Zapata, Texas, with Pastor Bill Nogues officiating. Mr. Westfall was born February 11, 1914 at Morning Sun, Iowa to Jacob and Eva Robertson Westfall. He was reared and educated in the Morning Sun area. He married Marilyn Sexton March 1, 1941 at Oakville, Iowa. To this union 8 children were born: Keith, Columbus City, Iowa; Karl, Romona, California; Max, Muscatine, Iowa; Mal, Muscatine, Iowa; Nancy Wagner, Morning Sun, Iowa; Bruce, Milpitas, California; Kay Elshoff, DeKalb, Illinois; and Paul of Columbus Junction, Iowa.

There are 20 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren and 2 great-granddaughters. Ray spent his working years as a farmer near Oakville and Columbus Junction, and driving a truck around the Midwest. He was a past master of Wapello AF&AM Number 5. He was also a member of O. E. S. of Wapello and Zapata. Surviving Ray are his wife and children and a brother Glenn of Baraboo, Wisconsin and several nieces and nephews. His parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters proceeded him in death. A memorial fund has been established. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Iowa.
