Ila Jane Hartsock, age 85 of Winfield, died Monday, April 11, 2011 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. The daughter of R. Oliver and Ruth (Beauchamp) Rees, she was born June 8, 1925 at home near Columbus City. She was a 1943 graduate of the Cotter High school, where she was class salutatorian. On March 23, 1946 she married Milton Davis; he died December 19, 1976. On October 24, 1981 she married Paul Hartsock; he died October 31, 1992. Ila was a housewife and lived on the farm all of her life, retiring and moving to Winfield in 1993. She loved working outdoors, sewing, crocheting, and sports and school activities of her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include: one daughter, Janice and Chuck Sinn of Oskaloosa; one son, Rodney and Kim Davis of Columbus Junction; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Gipple of Washington; a niece, Cindy Conrad of Wayland.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and one niece, Coleen Gipple.

Funeral services were Friday April 15, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Salem Welsh Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Dottie Halverson officiating; interment followed at the Cambrian Cemetery, rural Columbus Junction. Friends called on Thursday from noon until 7:00 p.m. at the Honts Funeral Home in Winfield, where the family met with friends from 5-7:00 p.m.

Memorials have been established for the Salem Welsh Presbyterian Church, Mercy Hospice, and the Henry County Home Healthcare.
