Joyce Elaine Reid, 77, of rural Letts, Iowa, died Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at the Wapello Nursing and Rehab Center. The daughter of Ollie Theodore and Dorothy Zimmerman Blake, she was born on December 25, 1932 in rural Muscatine. She married John David Reid on September 7, 1951 in Muscatine. He preceded her in death on August 11, 2010.

She graduated from Letts High School. She was a homemaker and helped on the farm. She enjoyed her cats and her dog. She also loved playing card games.

Her family includes three sons, Ronald and Ruth Reid of Muscatine, David and Barbara Reid of Letts, and Joseph Reid and Lou Ann Cedillo of Wapello; eight grandchildren, Jeff Reid, Lisa Reid, Sonny J. Reid, Ray Messer, Jolene Little, Joseph Reid Jr., Eric Reid, and Heather Maxwell; and a sister, Lois Smith of Muscatine.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; a granddaughter, Tina Marie Reid; a grandson, Lon Messer; three brothers, Donald, Stanley, and Ollie Blake; and two sisters, Erma Newton and Lavella Edgington.

The funeral service for Joyce Reid was held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 24, 2010, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello with Pastor Dan Doolin officiating. Burial followed in the Columbus City Cemetery.

The family met with friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home.
