Terrie Lynn Whitcomb Poggenpohl, 52, of Virginia, IL passed away Wednesday evening, December 29, 2010 at the Walker Nursing Home in Virginia. She was born December 17, 1958 in Santa Cruz, CA the daughter of Wilbur and Phyllis Hunt Whitcomb. She married Frank Poggenpohl and they later divorced.

She is survived by her mother, Phyllis Whitcomb of Virginia, one son, Wesley Poggenpohl of north Liberty, IA; one daughter, Heidi Lynn Bateman of North Liberty, IA; two grandchildren, Orilan Poggenpohl and Jacob Bateman; one brother, William Whitcomb of Virginia; three sisters, Athena (husband, Charles) Brissey, Jr. of Virginia, Carolyn (husband, Rodney) Lane of Candlerville and Tammy (companion Randy Gress Jr) Brunk of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Terrie had worked at several nursing homes in the Iowa City, IA area and also at a dry cleaners there.

She attended the Assembly of God in Virginia. She loved spending time with her children, and her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed writing poems.

A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2011, at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville, IL with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. The family met with friends from 9:30 – 10:30 on Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials were suggested to the Faith Christian Family Church in Rushville, IL or Walker Nursing Home.
