Forrest Ross Hunt, age 86 of Wapello, died Saturday March 12, 2011, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. The son of Victor Raymond “Pete” and Hazel (Siverly) Hunt, he was born September 21, 1924, at Morning Sun. On December 10, 1966, he married Exxa Lou “Peggy” Garland at Morning Sun; she died August 31, 2009.

He was a graduate of the Morning Sun High School and served in the US Army during W.W. II. He was a member of the Oakville American Legion. He was a retired farmer, belonging to many agricultural associations in the area over the years.

Survivors include: one nephew, Jon and Diana Hunt of Raleigh, N.C.; two nieces, Nancy and Jeff Carey of Columbus Junction; Vickie and Frank Mincer of Lone Tree; stepchildren; Danny and Rosemary Brown of Mt. Pleasant; Dave and Kathy Brown of New London; Jim Brown of Burlington; Jane and Randy Armstrong of Colorado; Jerry Brown of Winfield; Lou and Pete Whitehair of Burlington; several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several great nieces, nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother, Gerald and Thelma Hunt; one sister, Mary Etta and Max “Mott” Kemp; one nephew, James Otto Kemp.

Funeral services will be held Thursday March 17, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello; interment will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery in Morning Sun with graveside military rites by the Oakville American Legion.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, where the family will meet with friends from 6-8:00 p.m.

A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice House in his name.
