Kevin D. Hammons, of Washington, Iowa, died Monday, January 24, 2011 in Iowa City as the result of a construction accident.

Funeral services were 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2011, at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. Burial was in the Columbus City Cemetery. Visitation was held on Thursday, January 27, from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. Kevin Hammons was born October 25, 1958, the son of Kenneth and Carol (Anderson) Hammons in San Clemente, California. Kevin worked for Iowa Bridge and Culvert of Washington. He was a member of the Coon Hunter’s Association. Kevin enjoyed hunting, fishing, being in the outdoors, playing cards and computer games and was an avid Hawkeye and Steelers fan.

Kevin will be dearly missed by his children, Mindy Kruse of Winfield, Justin Hammons of Winfield and Kale Hammons of Fredonia; three grandchildren, Ashley Kruse, Kailey Neil and Zohee Hammons; parents, Kenneth and Carol Hammons; brothers and sister, Tony Hammons of Cedar Rapids, Richard Hammons of Fredonia, Scott Hammons of Strasburg, MO, Steve Hammons of Strasburg, MO, Daniel Hammons and wife, Chari of Strasburg, MO and Kimberly Murphy and husband, John of Strasburg, MO; 17 nieces and nephews and 15 great-nieces and nephews.

Kevin was preceded in death by his grandparents and one sister, Rosanne.
