Charles F. Woodruff, age 79, of Hamilton, Illinois, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 10:35 A.M. at the Memorial Hospital in Carthage, Illinois.

Charles was born on May 24, 1931, in Louisa County, Iowa, a son of Stephen Woodruff and Ruth Jane Kelly. He married Evelyn Carney on September 3, 1950, in the Grace United Church of Christ in Conesville, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters: Dianne and her husband, (Pat) McEntee of Niota, Illinois, Debbie K. and her husband, (Troy) Heath of Hamilton, Illinois; two sons: Mitchell and his friend, (Marina) Woodruff of Joplin, Missouri, James Lee Woodruff of Quincy, Illinois; three sisters: Beverly Joann Ziegolowski of Muscatine, Iowa, Patricia Ann Stinson of Iowa City, Iowa, Linda Cox and her husband, (Larry) of Kalona, Iowa; five brothers: Ronald LeRoy Woodruff and his wife, (Bonnie) of West Branch, Iowa, Paul Stephen Woodruff of Stockton, California, Lynn Thomas Woodruff and his wife, (Carol) of Kalona, Iowa, Larry Dean Woodruff of Aztec, New Mexico, James Lee Woodruff and special friend, (Gloria) of Quincy, Illinois. Charlie is also survived by 13 grandchildren: Brian, Scott, Sarah, Lisa, Dr. Andy, Kisha, Stephen, Candace, Lacy, Echo, Rayann, Corey, Craig, and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, a son, Stephen Woodruff, two sisters: Marjorie Jean Sanford, Mary Ellen Schneider, and two brothers: Bud Woodruff, Bob Woodruff.

Charles worked for Economart Grocery store for 20 years, owned and operated the Clark Nursing Home in Keokuk, Iowa, Motorolla Electronics, and retired from Keokuk Steel Castings in 1995. After his retirement he was manager and clerk for The Bottle Shop in Hamilton, Illinois.

He also enjoyed fishing, yard work, birds, and sports - especially the Iowa Hawkeyes. Charlie loved the time he spent with his family and friends.

Visitation was held on Monday, August 23, 2010 after 3:00 P.M. with family meeting friends between 5:00 and 7:00 P.M. at the Lamporte-St.Clair Funeral Home of Hamilton. Services were held on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at the Lamporte-St.Clair Funeral Home of Hamilton with Pastor Bob Wagoner officiating. Burial followed at Oakwood Cemetery.
