Helen Elizabeth Thompson, age 94, of Grandview, Iowa, died Sunday night, August 15, 2010, at the Wapello Nursing and Rehab Center in Wapello.

Her funeral service will be held on Friday, August 20, 2010, at 10:30 AM at the Grandview Community Bible Church in Grandview with Pastor Darryl Erickson officiating. Burial will follow at the Grandview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday with the family present to meet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello.
The casket bearers are Dean Jamison, Greg Wilson, Matt Wilson, Lauren Flickinger, Leslie Edwards, and Jeremy Edwards. Honorary bearers are Jenniffer Jamison, Tricia Wilson, and Amy Wilson.
A Memorial Fund is established for the benefit of the Grandview Community Bible Church and the Great River Hospice.

Helen was born on May 17, 1916, in Concord Township, Louisa County, Iowa, the daughter of Lewis and Gertrude McDaniel Dallmeyer. She graduated from Grandview High School. On December 21, 1937, Helen was united in marriage to Leon A. Thompson in Palmyra, Missouri. He preceded her in death on October 10, 2006.

Helen was a homemaker and enjoyed entertaining her family and friends. In the mid-70’s, she worked three years for the Louisa-Muscatine School District as the junior high librarian, retiring with her husband. Helen was a faithful and active member of the Grandview Community Bible Church where she was a pianist, served as a Sunday school teacher, Awana worker, with the ladies missionary society, and the church board. Helen was a charter member and helped organize the Grandview Federated Club. She enjoyed reading and embroidery.

Those left to honor her memory include her three daughters, Rana (Marvin) Jamison of Indian Land, South Carolina, Teresa Wilson of Muscatine, and Denise (Tom) Flickinger of Two Rivers, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Dean (Jenniffer) Jamison, Greg (Tricia) Wilson, Matt (Amy) Wilson, Leslie (Jeremy) Edwards, and Lauren Flickinger; seven great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lewie (Romelle) Dallmeyer of Columbus Junction and Carl (Helen) Dallmeyer of Washington, Iowa; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Helen was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Donald Wilson; three sisters, Agnes, Minnie, and Lola; three brothers, Francis, Floyd, and Kenneth; a half-sister, Lois; and a half-brother, Harlan.
