Ernest E. “Mac” McFarland, 80, of Fulton, Missouri passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at Fulton Nursing and Rehab.

He was born August 23, 1930 in Washington, County, Iowa, the son of the late Clarence and Harriett (Edwards) McFarland.

On February 1, 1962, he was united in marriage to Nancy (Mueller) McFarland, who survives at their home.
Ernest served our country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and three tours in Vietnam; he retired as a Sgt. Major in 1974 after twenty-five years.

He earned his Associates Degree from Moberly Jr. College. He was a member of the Marine Corps Reserve League. He loved working with cattle, being outdoors and building fence by hand. He was a chef and worked with the Virgil Thurston Catering business throughout Missouri.

In addition to his wife of forty-eight years, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two sons, Steven McFarland and his wife, Ruth of Chicago, IL; and Tom McFarland and his wife, Chris of Columbus Junction, IA; one brother, Clarence McFarland of the state of California; and four grandchildren: Nikki, Adrienne, Joel and Elyssa McFarland.

His parents and two brothers, Gayland and Dwaine McFarland preceded him in death.

Mr. McFarland was cremated. Services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Victory Fellowship Church, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Boulevard, Fulton, MO 65251. Condolences may be sent to the family at maupinfuneralhome.com.
