Grace A. Grosscup, 98, of Washington, formerly of Columbus City, IA, died Sunday, October 17, 2010 at the McCreedy Home in Washington, IA, following declining health.
Funeral services were Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction, Iowa. Pastor Rick Hughes officiated the services. Casket bearers were Grace’s grandchildren. Burial was in the Columbus City Cemetery. Visitation was held on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services from 1:00 p.m. till service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the McCreedy Home. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

Grace Arlene Hartsock was born in Louisa County on August 24, 1912, the daughter of Harry and Hazel (Jarvis) Hartsock. Grace married Dariel Grosscup on August 23, 1934 in Atlantic, IA. She attended Round Grove School near Haskins.

Grace’s greatest pleasure was being with her family and friends. She enjoyed playing cards and baking her famous pies, hot rolls and donuts. Grace was an awesome and amazing lady who was a 41-year survivor of breast cancer.

Surviving her are four children; Helen (George) Bentrott of Davenport, IA, Dean (Martha) Grosscup of Overland Park, KS, Pauline (LeRoy) Brown of LeClaire, IA and Bill Grosscup of Chandler, TX; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Bernadine Grosscup of Washington, IA; nieces, nephews and wonderful caring friends.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1987; a daughter, Evelyn Parris in 1977; a son-on-law, J.D. Parris in 1998; two brothers, Ivan Hartsock and Paul Hartsock; and her sisters, Alta Olsen and Ruth Stoneburner.
