Beverly K. Gordon 68, passed away Monday, July 12, 2010, at Trinity Regional Medical Center, Ft. Dodge, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 17, at the Church of Christ, Rockwell City, with Rev. Logan Dunham officiating. Burial was at the Lake City Cemetery. Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Palmer and Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City, with an Eastern Star Service at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.

Bev is survived by her daughter, April Gordon of West Des Moines; her son, Lance Gordon and his friend, Janice Mineart of Des Moines; sister, Janet (Bob) Pretz of Columbus Junction; sister-in-law, Glenda (Ray) Beckman of Lake City; nieces and nephews, Susan Pretz, Steve Pretz, Liz Pretz, Stephani Stark, and Chad Holm; and other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren; parents, Elmer and Mida Lock Thomas; and after the death of her mother, the two women that raised Bev, her Aunt Dorothy Thomas and stepmother, Lynette Thomas.

Beverly Kay Thomas Gordon was born August 4, 1941 in Washington Co., Iowa. She graduated from Columbus High School with the Class of 1959. She then graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant. Bev then taught school. On July 18, 1970, she was united in marriage to Warren Gordon at Cotter, Iowa. The couple made their home in Lake City, until moving to Rockwell City in 1983. Bev was a substitute teacher and homemaker. In 1990, she began working at the Twin Lakes Grocery until her passing. Warren passed away in 1999. Bev was active at the Church of Christ, and a member of Eastern Star. She was also active in the Calhoun County Fair and enjoyed quilting.
