James “Jimmy” Michael Bell, 50, of Columbus Junction, IA, passed away at his home Tuesday, September 28, 2010, after an extended illness of cancer. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at 10:30 AM at the Presbyterian Church in Columbus Junction, IA. Inurnment will be at Columbus City Cemetery. There will be a fellowship at the church to follow.

James was born on November 12, 1959 to James and Jean (Zarbua) Bell in Washington, IA. He graduated from Columbus Junction High School in 1978. When he was old enough to work, he started working for his father at Bell Ready Mix in Fredonia, IA. Then his father sold the business to retire. Jimmy then started working for his cousin, Tim Hills of Hills Excavating. At the present day, he was employed by Tyson Fresh Meats, Louisa County in the maintenance department. He married Dianna (Peterson) Bell on February 14, 2003.

In his younger years he enjoyed racing go-carts at Spring Run Speedway and later, dirt track stock car racing in the stock car class at CJ Raceway. He also enjoyed anything outdoors like fishing and working in the garage. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him, especially plenty of friends and family.

James is survived by his parents, Howard “Boone” and Marion Bell of Columbus Junction; his wife, Dianna; a son, Adam Bell and wife, Layne of Kolona, IA; 4 daughters, Jeni, Ami, Trudi, and Billie Bell of Cleveland, TN; 2 step-children Crystal Peterson of Fredonia, IA and Richard Peterson of Washington, IA; brothers, J.R. Bell and wife, Kelly of Monticello, GA, Denny Bell and wife, Kathy of West Liberty; sisters, Susie Staats and husband, Rod of Columbus Junction, IA, Jamie Bell Taylor and Gayland Burge of Columbus Junction, Joy Tipton and husband, Steve of Marion, Iowa; and sister-in-law, Vicki Willson of Council Bluffs, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his natural parents, James and Jean Bell; two grandfathers and two grandmothers, a sister, Kim “Kulp” Clark of Columbus Junction; a brother, Jim Willson of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and several loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
