Shirley June Till, 78, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer and congestive heart failure on April 23, 2010 at her home in Cassel. Allen and Dahl Funeral Chapel, Palo Cedro, CA, was in charge of arrangements. Funeral services were held Friday, April 30th at Burney First Baptist Church at 10 a.m. with Pastor Bud Hennessy officiating. Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery, McArthur, CA.

Mrs. Till was born March 6, 1932. The daughter of Ralph and Isabelle Fowler Gabriel in rural Columbus City. She married Frank Till on May 1, 1959. Shirley was a 1949 graduate of Columbus High School. After graduation, she entered nurses training at St. Luke’s Hospital in Davenport and began a career of being a registered surgical nurse for 40 years. She had lived in Cassel for 30 plus years. After retiring, she served as a part-time home health nurse. She was an avid book reader and enjoyed the flowers in and outside her home.

She is survived by her husband, Frank Till; daughters, Penny Booth and husband, William from Redding, CA, Lynn Norton and husband, Mike of Fall River Mills, CA; six grandchildren; brothers, Ephraim Gabriel and wife, Margaret of Columbus City, IA, Douglas Gabriel and wife, Ingrid of Mt. Vernon, IL; sister, Marlene Pierce of Columbus City; nieces, nephews and cousins and an Uncle Ralph Fowler, age 98, of La Vernia, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, sister, Nadeanne Brauns, brothers, Edwin Eugene (Buzz), Ralph Richard (John), and Larry Lee.
