Donald E. Buckman, 82, of Conesville died Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Unity Hospital
in Muscatine. Per Donald’s wishes, he was a tissue donor and his body has been cremated.
There will be no visitation and funeral services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Donald. The
Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services of Lone Tree is caring for the
funeral arrangements and Donald’s family. Online condolences may be sent to

Donald A. Buckman was born on July 14, 1927 in Conesville, Iowa the son of Charles Arthur
and Emma (Carter) Buckman. Donald graduated from Conesville High School in 1946. On
March 28, 1951, Donald was united in marriage to Doris Arlene Peterson in Iowa City. He
was a farmer his entire life. Donald was a member of the N.R.A. and enjoyed the outdoors,
all wildlife, feeding and housing the birds, woodworking, an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and
spending time with his family and friends. Donald also gave blood to the DeGowin Blood
Center on a regular basis.

Donald will be deeply missed by his wife, Arlene of Conesville; his children, Mark Buckman
of Conesville, Gail Dieckman and her husband, Bill of Columbus Junction, Brian Buckman
and special friend, Cheri Meyers of Conesville and Teri Linton and her husband, Craig of
Skiatook, Oklahoma; 5 grandchildren, Billie Jo Roberts, Josh Buckman, Lizabeth Maurer,
John Dieckman and Loni Moushon; 4 great grandchildren, Blayne Roberts, Laken Roberts,
Josie Roberts and Marlie Stout; brothers and sisters, Dorothy McLain of Lockridge, Ethel
Houghton of Arizona, Viola Dodson of West Liberty, Maxine Lee of Arizona, Edwin Buckman
and his wife, Kay of Joliet, Illinois, Norma Baughman and her husband, Ralph of Iowa City and
Carol Kacena and her husband, Stan of Iowa City.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Ruth Solomon and two brothers,
Charles and Lyle.
