The Rev. Ronald V. Good

The Rev. Ronald Vay Good, 61, of rural Morning Sun, died Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. The son of Walter C. and Elizabeth (Butterbaugh) Good, he was born August 29, 1948 at Harrisburg, PA. On June 24, 1972 he married Virginia “Ginny” Farley at Oldwick, NJ. He was a 1966 graduate of Lower Dauphin High School in Hummelston, PA; a 1970 graduate of Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA; a 1974 graduate of the Reformed Presbyterian Theology Seminary at Pittsburg, PA; [and] received his ThD 2004 at Master’s Graduate School of Divinity in Evansville, IN.

He pastured for 36 years in Reformed Presbyterian Churches in New Alexandria, PA, Washington, IA, and currently at Morning Sun, IA.

He was a member of the Morning Sun Lions Club and was Chaplain of District 9SE.

He previously served as moderator and ad interim chairman of Midwest Presbytery and served on church boards and committees.

Survivors include: his wife Virginia “Ginny” Good of Morning Sun; one son Matthew Good and wife Leah of Wauwatosa, WI; one daughter, Deborah Good, a resident of Winning Wheels in Prophetstown, Illinois; two grandchildren, Maizy and Max; two brothers, Toby Good and wife Patrice of Elizabethown, PA and R. Scott Good and wife Sharon of Barnegat, JH; and several nieces and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Barbara Baum.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday June 8, 2010 at the Sharon Reformed Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Robert McFarland officiating. Interment followed in the Sharon Church Cemetery.

The family met with friends Monday afternoon and evening at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun.

Memorials were established for the Winning Wheels, Reformed Presbyterian Church, and the Gideons Society.
