Funeral services for G. Helen Smith were held Saturday, March 29, 1986 at 10:30 a.m. in the United Methodist Church at Oakville, Iowa. The Rev. Harold Werley officiated. Burial was in the Parsons Cemetery.

Georgia Helen Smith was born March 11, 1888 near Wapello, Iowa. She was the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Handley) Wiederrecht. She graduated from the Wapello High School, taught in several rural schools and also taught at the Toolesboro and Oakville Schools.

On September 14, 1908 she was married to Earl Parsons Smith at Wapello, Iowa. They had 3 children. Her husband died August 26, 1962.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, Fred Wiederrecht, two sisters, Lela Ehle and Daisy Johnston, and a grandson, David Kiesau.

Surviving are one son, Will C. Smith of Wapello; two daughters, E. Lucille (Mrs. Ralph G. Nichols) of Ft. Charlotte, Florida and O. Pauline (Mrs. Milton F. Kiesau) of Postville; 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She was a member of the Oakville Methodist Church and had been the choir director at the Wapello United Methodist Church and past worthy matron and long-time member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 257 at Wapello. She was also a member of the 20th Century Club or rural Wapello, the good Will Club, Toolesboro and had served as President of the Louisa County Farm Bureau.
