Sarah Jane Campbell was born April 1st, 1856 in Grand View, Ia., died March 23, 1915. Age 58 years, 11 months and 22 days.

She was married to I.E. Sabin July 30th, 1876, to which union was born two sons, David E. and Thomas I. Her husband passed away May 22nd, 1882, leaving her with two children, one four years of age, the other only eight months.

She spent her entire life here and was characterized by industry and frugality so far as her own wants were concerned but generous to a fault in her unsparing zeal for those she loved. She was always benevolent and painstaking in her care of any sick or unfortunate neighbors and even in her age and failing health has given herself unselfishly to the care of those near and dear to her.

She is survived by her two sons and their families; one full brother John Campbell of Grand View; one half brother, Lee Thorpe, of Burlington; and three half sisters, Mrs. Ida Dowell of Muscatine, Ia.; Mrs. Ada Crow, of Fonda Ia., and Mrs. Belle Graham of Wapello, Ia.

She was converted and joined the Methodist Episcopal church many years ago and was a consistent, God-fearing Christian woman to the end of her life. While her excessive labors and depleted strength did not allow her the privileges of sanctuary of late, she loved the place of prayer and frequently expressed her regret that it was so.

She was taken sick while nursing her sister, Mrs. Dowell in Muscatine, and after about ten days, although very sick, according to her wish, was brought to Grand View. She continued weak and failing and passed away from a deep sleep Tuesday morning at 8:00 o'clock.

Funeral services were conducted from the home of the son, David, where she passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 24th, at 2:30 conducted by the pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church and interment made in the Grand View cemetery.
