Irvin J. Brockert, age 87 of Columbus Junction, died Saturday afternoon, March 11, 1995 at the Colonial Manor of Columbus community.

The son of Benjamin and Ida Mae Walker Brockert, he was born September 25, 1907 at Roughwood, IA. He married Opal Finley on January 28, 1926 at Grandview, IA. She died January 14, 1991. He was a farmer and enjoyed carpentry.

Survivors include a daughter, Delores Duncan of Columbus Junction; five sons, Harold of Wapello, Kenneth of Columbus Junction, Keith, Harry and Ben all of Muscatine; thirty-two grandchildren; sixty-four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Beulah Uker of Des Moines and Marie Knoll of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Opal; two daughters, Ruby and Doris; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters; and four brothers.

The funeral service for Irvin Brockert was held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 1995 at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello, with Rev. Gary Walker officiating. Music was provided by Bev Parsons as organist, Jimmy Brockert as vocalist and Gary Walker was vocalist. The casket bearers included Kevin Duncan, Darrell Duncan, Audie Brockert, Scott Mangold, Carl Adams, and Brian Brockert. The honorary bearers were Phillip Brockert, Gary Adams, Charlie Brockert, Steve Brockert, and Dave Brockert.

Burial followed at the Harrison Cemetery, Wapello.

The family met with friends from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home. A memorial fund has been established.
