Arlee Thelma Morris, age 87, of Wapello, Iowa, died Tuesday morning, May 14, 1996 at the Burlington Medical Center, Burlington, Iowa.

The daughter of Harve and Martha Murray Hodges, she was born November 24, 1908 at Valparaiso, Nebraska. She married Milo Sherman. On January 30, 1965 she married Chester Morris at Omaha, Nebraska. He died December 16, 1980.

She graduated from Valparaiso High School and from beautician school. She worked as a beautician at Valparaiso and later worked for a doctor and then worked as a nurse's Aide at the Louisa County Home and at the Mental Health Institute at Mt. Pleasant.

She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at Wapello.

Arlee Morris is survived by a daughter-in-law, Sandra Sherman of Mediapolis; a stepson Chester Morris of Wapello; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several cousins; and an uncle, Rex Mike Mackey of Wapello.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Chester; two sons Milo 'Sunny' Sherman and Marvin Sherman; and one brother, Carl Hodges.

The funeral service for Arlee Morris was held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 1996 at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Mr. Randy Tiffany officiating. Burial followed at the Wapello Cemetery, with Art Dodd officiating.

The family mnet friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home.

A memorial fund has been established for the benefit of the Wapello Community ambulance Service.

The casket bearers were Chester Morris, Lowell Taylor, Jim Utterback, Paul Tiffany, Art Dodd and Justin Sulzner. Honorary bearers were Mike Mackey and Gene Winder.
