Alta Irene Lesnet, age 82, of Wapello, Iowa, died at her home Wednesday evening, November 24, 1993.

She was born January 4, 1911 at Oakville, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph and Edna Strawhacker Siverly. She married Lewis E. Lesnet on September 1, 1932 at Monmouth, Illinois. He died November 23, 1977.

She was a graduate of the Oakville High School. She had worked as a ship welder during WW II in Oregon and then worked for several years at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant at Burlington. She then worked and retired from Thatcher Glass of Muscatine.

Survivors include two sons, Jim Lesnet of Wever and Don Lesnet of Sperry; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Winifred Kuhl of Wapello; and two brothers, Dwight Siverly of Oakville and Robert Siverly of Wapello. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one brother, Gene.

The funeral service for Alta Lesnet was held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 27, 1993 at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Philgreen officiating. Phyllis McCulley provided the organ music. The casket bearers included Terry Lesnet, Gary Buckles, Jeff Soper, Greg Soper, Scott Lesnet and Dugan Smith. Pete Nash was an alternate bearer. Burial followed at the Wapello Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established for the benefit of the Wapello Rescue Unit.
