Mrs. Eliza Jane Collins died Feb. 16th, 1905, at the home of her son, C.W. Collins, in Fillmore, Assiniboia, Canada. The remains arrived at Grandview Monday evening, accompanied by her son, Chas. The funeral services were held from the Lone Tree chapel Tuesday forenoon at 11 o'clock conducted by Rev. L.H. Wood, of Grandview, interment in West Port cemetery.

The deceased lived for many years in Pt. Louisa township, and had many friends who mourn with the bereaved children.

Eliza Jane Springer was born in Ohio Feb. 5th, 1838, and departed this life Feb. 16th, 1905, aged 69 years and 11 days. Feb. 23, 1853, she was married to James L. Humphrey. To them were born two children, who preceded her to the better world. Mr. Humphrey died in 1857, and on July 24th, 1861 she was united in marriage to K.B. Collins, of West Virginia, who departed this life August 9, 1903. To them were born eleven children, four of whom survive her: C.W. of Fillmore, Canada, with whom she made her home; Minta, now Mrs. G.W. Cocklin, of Grandview; Orpha, now Mrs. Robert Shafer, of Grandview;and Della, who was with her at the time of death.

Mrs. Collins united with the Methodist church in 1868 and was a faithful member until 1895, when she united with the United Evangelical church of Grandview, Iowa, and was a faithful member at the time of her death.
