Jeremiah Krahl
The neighborhood was grieved last Saturday morning, March 19th, 1904, when the sad news was announced that one of the oldest and most respected citizens had passed to the great beyond. The deceased was popular with a wide circle of friends and his untimely demise caused deep sorrow to precade the entire community, as he was held in the highest esteem by his legion of friends and acquaintances, and no death has occurred in the city for some time which elicited as many expressions of sorrow and regret as were heard on all sides when the announcement was made. He possessed wonderful vitality and made a heroic battle against his ailment, apoplexy from which he had suffered nearly two months. The relatives had been prepared for the worst as Mr. Krahl had hovered between life and death for several days. the deceased came to this county in 1864 with his parents. He was born Nov. 19, 1845 in Pennsylvania and died March 19, 1904, aged 58 years and 4 months. He was united in marriage to Anna Stineman, Feb. 2, 1871. To this union four children were born, Harley, Lewis, Lizzie and Pearl. In addition to the bereaved and grief stricken family, the following sister and brothers survive, Mrs. Sarah Hahn, of Octavia, Nebr., Lewis Krahl of Aurora, Ill., and Wm. Krahl of Huston, Texas.

Mr. Krahl was engaged in the farm implement business at this point. Last fall he suffered a stroke of Paralysis. A succession of shocks culminated in his death.

Deceased was converted early in life and at once joined the United Evangelical Church of which he was a consecrated member until his death. The funeral was conducted from the United Evangelical Church Sabbath afternoon where a large crowd assembled to pay the last triburte of respect. Rev. L. H. Wood officiated. The following were the pall bearers: David Stineman, John McDaniel, J. H. Dodder, R. C. Vibber, H. Gast and J. H. Benson. Interment was made in the Grandview Cemetery.
