AUGUSTA W. R. JOHNSTON

Augusta W. R. Johnston, age 99, Morning Sun, died Friday evening, September 22, 1995 at the Morning Sun Care Center. The daughter of Fred and Mary (Brussel) Hartmann, she was born February 1, 1896 at Taylor Ridge, Illinois. On October 22, 1919, she married Archie Leroy Johnston near Edgington, Illinois; he died November 24, 1983. She worked as a cook for the Morning Sun School for many years; she was a former member of the Longcreek Homemakers Club at Wapello in earlier years; she was a member of the United Methodist Church in Morning Sun.

Survivors include: 3 sons, Darrel Johnston of San Diego, California; Delmer Johnston of Morning Sun; Dallas Johnston of Burlington; 1 daughter Virginia Hartman of Morning Sun; 13 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren; 1 sister Rose Frie of Andalusia, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers, 1 sister, 1 great-grandchild, and daughter-in-law Frances Johnston and son-in-law Leo Hartman.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 26, 1995, at 10:00 a.m. from the Morning Sun United Methodist Church, with Rev. Chris Ebbers officiating. Interment followed at the Elmwood Cemetery at Morning Sun. Visitation was a Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun on Monday, where the family met with friends in the evening. A general memorial has been established.

Music was provided by Geneva Samuels, organist, and a vocal trio by Rosemary Schneider, Frances Wonders, and Tamara Johnston-Libs. Casket bearers wee Gary Johnston, Craig Johnston, Doug Johnston, Lanny Johnston, Joel Johnston, Brent Johnston, Rick Johnston, Dan Johnston, and James Johnston.
