Funeral services for 83 year old Hayden Davis of Cotter, Iowa were held at l:30 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 1998, at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home, Columbus Junction, Iowa. Burial was in the Cambrian Cemetery.
Visitation was Friday at the funeral home with the family present from 3 - 8 p.m. Masonic Rites were held at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Hayden died at his residence on Wednesday.
A memorial has been established at the funeral home. John Hayden Davis was born May l, l9l5 in Cotter, Iowa, to John and Anna Griffith Davis. He married Elizabeth Arline Lyle, June 8, 1939, in Indianola, Iowa.
Hayden had been a lifelong farmer in the Columbus Junction area and the owner and operator of Davis Trucking Service. Hayden was a member of the Columbus City Masonic Lodge #107 A.F. & A.M. the Davenport Consistory, Kaaba Shrine and President of the Crazy Ford Unit. Hayden was a member of the Cotter Presbyterian Church and past Elder and Trustee. He was a former member of the Board of Directors of the Columbus Junction State Bank. Hayden was an avid bicyclist and had ridden on RAGBRAI for the last l0 years. Hayden had also served on the Cotter School Board and was a member of the Louisa County Pork Producers, the Louisa County Cattlemen Association and the Louisa County Beef Producers. Hayden is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Thomas(Bette A) Harris, Jr., Yorkville, Illinois. There is one granddaughter, Mrs. Hunnando (Shea L.) Brim, Aurora, Illinois, and 2 great-grandchildren, Shaylyn and Hunnando T. Brim. Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Plett, and a brother, Burdette Davis and his wife Anita; two nephews, Bob and Lori Davis, Columbus Junction and Dr. Randy and Cindy Davis, Dallas Texas.
Hayden was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
