Florence Lillian Cotter, age 85, Greeley, Colo. and formerly of Wapello, died Wednesday evening, Feb. 27, 1991 at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, Colorado.

She was born September 12, 1905 at Columbus City, Iowa, the daughter of Homer and Lulu Ann Murray Winder. Florence Winder was a graduate of Wapello High School and attended the University of Iowa. She was the Director of the Louisa County Welfare Office befire her marriage to Richard James "Jim" Cotter On April 19, 1941 in Des Moines, Iowa. Jim and Florence farmed together west of Wapello. He died May 24, 1968. She moved to Greeley in 1987. Florence was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Delta Alpha at Wapello, the Order of Eastern Star #257 of Wapello, the Marshall Township Farm Bureau Women and the Wapello Study Club.

Survivors include her daughter, Ann (Mrs. Herb) Schrader of Greeley; two grandsons, Brian Schrader of Austin, Texas, and Kevin Schrader of Greeley; two brothers, Howard Winder of Wapello and Allen Winder of Atlanta, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and one sister, Murray McElhinney.

Funeral service for Florence Cotter was held Sundsy, March 3, 1991 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church at Wapello with the Rev. George Yetter officiating. Music was provided by Carolyn Bartenhagen as organist and Linda Gipple as voclist. Casket bearers were Frank Jamison, Mike Jamison, Don Williams, Raymond Werner, Melvin Jennings and Myron Jennings. Honorary bearers were Gordon Stone, Kenneth McChesney and Clarence Jennings. Flower attendants were Gwen Gipple, Ruth Abbott and Alene McChesney. Burial followed at the Wapello Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established.

The family met with friends Saturday evening at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home at Wapello where an Order of Eastern Star service was held at 7:00 p.m.
