Charles Howard "Chuck" Sellers, 86, of Morning Sun, died Friday evening, Feb. 11, 2000, at Morning Sun Care Center.

Born Sept. 19, 1913, in cairo, he was the son of Frank and Maude Murray Sellers. On Jan. 27. 1934, he married Lillian Peters in Rock Island, Ill.

Mr. sellers was a 1931 graduate of burlington High School. He was primarily a car salesman and managed Pine Motor Co. in Wapello for 19 years. He worked for Linder Chevrolet in Morning Sun, drove a truck for his brother-in-law, hauled produce for Morning Sun Produce, delivered mail on rural routes, owned Sinclair Service Station and Cozy Cafe, until it closed, both in Morning Sun.

He was a member of the former Church of God at Cairo and was baptized in Long Creek. He was a member of the United StatesTrotting Association and raised his own standard bred horses. He enjoyed baseball, and was a pitcher, as well as enjoying reading and playing cards.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Ann Ellen Brabbs of Cincinnati and Alethea K. LaMar of Palos Hills, Ill.; one son, Alfred Otis Sellers of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one sister and two brothers.

The funeral for Mr. Sellers will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at United Methodist Church in Morning Sun, with the Rev. Chris Thomas officiating. The body has been cremated. there will be a private family burial.

The family will meet with friends following the funeral, where there will be a luncheon at the church.

A memorial has been established for United Methodist Church in Morning Sun.

Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun is in charge of arrangements.
