Cecil James Enke, 90, of the Sunrise Terrace Care Center, Winfield, formerly of Morning Sun, died Thursday, Feb. 6, 1992, at the care center.

Born Nov. 21, 1901, at Mount Union, he was the son of Emmer L. and Cora Chandlee Enke. He married Dayle Marie Owens Sept. 12, 1923, at Columbus Junction. She died May 7, 1957.

He farmed most of his life in the Marsh community, retiring to Morning Sun in 1967. He was a former member of the Louisa County Extention Board and a former member of the Marsh Methodist Church where upon its closing he transferred membership to the Winfield United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Wilna Irene Meeker of Winfield; one son, J. Merle Enke of Morning Sun; two brothers, Pearl Enke of New London, and Guy Enke of Mount Pleasant; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Friends may call as they desire today at the Honts Funeral Home in Winfield.

The funeral for Mr. Enke will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Honts Funeral Home in Winfield with the Revs. Anne Lippincott and Tom Zeleny officiating. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery, Morning Sun.

Memorials have been established for the Winfield United Methodist Church and the Sunrise Terrace Care Center.
