Mrs. Alma Bazel Dickson, 86, died August 21, 1987 at the Morning Sun Care Center.

She was the daughter of Elmer and Christian Walker Bazel, born July 23, 1901 on a farm north of Yarmouth, Iowa. The family then moved to a farm west of Morning Sun in 1904. She attended County School for her formal education.

Mrs. Dickson worked in a millinery store for Mrs. Smiley in Morning sun and then in 1929 she started to work in the Dry Goods Store for L.D. rohlfing.

She married Robert Dickson April 8, 1943. He preceded her in death in 1978. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 6 sisters and 2 brothers.

Surviving are 8 nieces and nephews: Margaret Patterson, Ault, Colorako; Robert McElhinney, Morrison, Ill.; Lola Lundin, New London, Ia.; Viola Schenk, St. Charles, Mo.; Beaulah Sellers, Ottawa, Ill.; Norman Pogemiller, Des Moines, Ia.; Leroy Pogemiller, Kansas City, Mo.; Shirley Heitmeier, Morening Sun, Ia.

Mrs. Dickson was a member of the United Methodist Church, W.S.C.S., American Legion Auxiliary, Lioness Club, Home Club, and the Sorosis Club. For many years she was the local Poppy Chairwoman, as well as local unit president and county president. For many years she covered dozens of Christmas boxes for the use of Veterans in the Mental Health Facility in Mr. Pleasant.

A memorial for her has been established.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Tom Zeleny, Monday, August 24, 1987 at 10:30 a.m. at Pierce Funeral Home in Morning Sun, with burial in the Elmwood Cemetery.
