Lucile Katherine Carter, age 94 of Mediapolis, formerly of Moravia, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000 at Integrated Health Services of Mediapolis.

The daughter of Clyde and Charlotte Jesse Cullers, she was born June 17, 1905 at Sublette, Missouri.

On March 28, 1926 she married Loyd N. Carter at Moravia; he died September 7, 1981.

She was a homemaker and she was a graduate of the Moravia High School, class of 1924. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Moravia and a 50 year member of the O.E.S., where she was organist most of those years.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Herron of Gamaliel, Arkansas, and Virginia Goughnour of Burlington; one son, Robert Carter of Morning Sun; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers.

Visitation was Tuesday afternoon at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home, Mediapolis.

Funeral services were held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000 from the funeral home, with Revs. Kenton and Jan Carter officiating, and Denise Smuck organist. Casket bearers were Ed Nelson, Rick Goughnour, Randy Goughnour, Steve Krieger, and Tom Stoller.

A visitation was held Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at the Gilbert-Nordstrom Funeral Home in Moravia, with interment following at the Hillcrest Cemetery at Moravia.

A memorial has been established for the Grace United Methodist Church of Moravia.
