Evalyn M. Stodgell, 99, formerly of Morning Sun, died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999, at Integrated Health Service of Mediapolis.

Born July 4, 1000, at Alexis, Ill., she was the daughter of John Wesley and Melissa Jane Ransford Stodgell.

Miss Stodgell was a graduate of Morning Sun High School and attended Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls and Iowa Wesleyan College at Mount Pleasant. She taught school for 18 years, the last 12 at Morning Sun.

She served as post office clerk for Morning Sun Post Office for 27 years. She was a lifetime member of First United Presbyterian Church of Morning Sun, UPW and Martha Circle.

Survivors include two nephews, 11 nieces; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday in Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun. There will be no family visitation.

The funeral for Miss Studgell will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First United Presbyterian Church in Morning Sun, with the Rev. Jack Edmisson officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Morning Sun.

A memorial has been established for First United Presbyterian Church of Morning Sun.
