WAPELLO - Herman A. Lihs, 89, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 1996 at Wapello Nursing & Care Center.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello. Rev. John Gaulke will officiate. Casket bearers will include Floyd Dean, Dean Samuels, Jackie Lihs, Scott Geiger, Jeff Lihs, and Mike Lihs.

Burial will be at the Fulton Cairo Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Lihs was born July 23, 1907 at Bristow, Neb., the son of August and Josephine Seekatz Lihs. He married Cleo Thomas on September 11, 1931 at Columbus Junction.

He was a farmer, truck driver, and a mechanic and retired from production work at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Burlington.

He enjoyed golf, traveling, and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Cleo, a daughter, Sandra Geiger of Wapello, two sons, Max Lihs of Davenport and Craig Lihs of Iowa City, three grandsons, three great-grandchildren, and three brothers, Edwin Lihs of Tyndale, S.D., Ernest Lihs of Norfolk, Neb., and Edgar Lihs of Wapello.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and three brothers.
