Kenneth V. Day, 76, of Media, Ill., died at 4:11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, 1989, in the Henderson County Retirement Center, Stronghurst, Ill.

Born Oct. 19, 1913, in Camden, Ill., he was the son of Albert and Iva Hale Day. he married Jean Brown Dec. 9, 1944, in Leesville, La.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He had farmed near Stronghurst, Ill., for many years, retiring in 1988. He was a member and former president of the Henderson County Farm Bureau and was awarded the retired farmer of the year award by the Farm Bureau in 1989. He had served on the Henderson County Fair Board for many years. He was a member of the Stronghurst American Legion and the Youngstown Chrisitan Church, Youngstown, Ill.

Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Connie (Wendell) Booton, Stronghurst, Ill.; four sons, Mike Day, Blandinsville, Ill., Rich Day, Luray, Mo., Dennis Day, Strongurst, Ill., and Terry Day, Griggsville, Ill.; three brothers, Edwin Day, Monmouth, Ill., Ernest Day, Abingdon, Ill., and Albert Day, Watseka, Ill.; three sisters, Mrs. Alberta (Weldon) Toops, Monmouth, Ill., Mrs. Jessie (Herb) Shook, Waukegan, Ill.,
and Mrs. Marjorie (Fred) Murphy, Lady Lake, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Friends may call Tuesday until time of service Wednesday at the Banks & Beals Funeral Home, Stronghurst, Ill.

The service for Mr. Day will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Banks & Beals Funeral Home, Stronghurst, Ill., with the Rev. Ernest Peterson officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Grove Cemetery near Media, Ill., with military rites by the Stronghurst American Legion.

Memorials have been established for the Stronghurst Volunteer Ambulance Service and the Henderson County Retirement Center.
